　　On the significance of Canceling May Day Golden Week

　　The reform of shortening the golden-week and spreading holidays out to other tradi-tional Chinese festivals such as Qingming Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival has provoked heated debates nationwide . Some people think that the government should reform the golden week and celebrate traditional Chinese festivals, whereas others hold opposite opinions, arguing that they prefer observing foreign festivals like Christ-mas. As far as I'm concerned, we should attach greater importance to traditional Chinese festivals.

　　There are a variety of reasons for this reform. For one thing, the idea of shortening the golden-week and adding traditional Chinese festivals to the official holidays can enable us to appreciate the profound meanings of traditional Chinese festivals and the 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization. For another, more attention to traditional Chinese festivals is help-ful to the growth of our national economy, and fosters the rapid development of Chinese tourist industry.

　　From what has been discussed above, we can safely draw the conclusion that we should pay attention to inheriting China's traditional culture, and Chinese festivals will play an important t01e in modern society.
